Gone are the days when one resume was enough for all job applications.
As competition in marketplaces increases, so does the expectation of employers. They are looking for more, and that “more” begins and ends with customisation.
Cookie-cutter resumes do not make it. We know you really want or even need to get a job, and we appreciate your effort in sending out countless resumes to different companies, but take a moment to vet the company and tailor your resume to the company and the position for which you are applying.
Do some research. Yes, research. Researching will always be necessary part of anything you set out to do and applying for jobs is no different.
Your resume should reflect your knowledge of the company and what it is about; when it’s a generic resume we can tell. Additionally, this is great information to have in the event that you secure an interview, after all, that is the goal isn’t it?
The bottom line is this, your interest in the company should be evident on your resume. If you don't have an interest in our company, why should we have an interest in you?
