For the 11th cohort, the Hope Elliott Memorial Scholarship has pledged to support two students of The Queen's School.
We acknowledge our 2019-2021 scholars, lower sixth-former Jeffee-Jay Francis and fourth-former Esther-Elizabeth McKenzie.
Jeffee-Jay Francis is a Liberal Arts student. Her studies in fifth form included geography, French, social studies, biology, and mathematics.
The soft-spoken future civil rights lawyer is an avid debater. She strives to maintain a character in accordance with The Queen's School’s motto ‘’May She Flourish in Wisdom and Virtue’’. Her extra-curricular interests and leadership abilities are channeled through the Students' Council; Environmental Club; Key Club International; Junior Optimist International; French Club; Debating Society; and Inter-School Christian Fellowship. She will sit level one of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams in Tourism, Law, Communication Studies and Literatures in English.
Esther-Elizabeth McKenzie is a hardworking and diligent fourth-form student. Her work at school is manifestly supported by her mother's encouragement to push through challenges. She says she lives by her mother's words “It’s not the easy things that help you grow; it is the hard things that create your courage and wisdom. Embrace them!” A perpetual A-student, she has received the Citizenship and Academic Excellence awards at the annual prize-giving ceremonies for her years in first and second form. She is determined to continue working hard to excel in the honors class and beyond.
Although a fourth-former, Esther-Elizabeth plans to sit mathematics this year. She will then complete her English Language, English Literature, biology, economics, principles of accounts, information technology, and Spanish exams in 2021.
